Lenovo Vibe K4 Note Review, Price and Specs - Launched last month under the flash sale model, the Lenovo Vibe K4 Note on Monday became available in general sale, i.e., without registrations. Lenovo, we feel, is a smartphone brand that seems to be playing its cards right. Take the Lenovo K3 Note ( review ) for instance, a smartphone that came out mid last year.

Design

The Lenovo Vibe K4 Note comes with quite a lot of upgrades when compared to the previous generation. Lenovo has completely reworked on the design element of the K4 Note which is the successor to the popular K3 Note. The device has top and bottom curved edges. The device is made of a metal frame with a plastic rear panel, The body dimensions of Lenovo Vibe K4 Note are 153.6×76.5×9.2 mm or 6.05×3.01×0.36 inches and weighs 158 grams and is 9.2mm thick. .

The K4 Note sticks to the same 5.5-inch full HD (~ 401 ppi) display offered by its predecessor - so no upgrades there. There's a layer of Gorilla Glass 3 present on top that attempts to protect the screen from minor scratches. To conclude, Lenovo Vibe K4 Note is a perfect midrange phone for any users would not like to compromise on build quality, design and performance.

The company has also confirmed that the Ant VR headset will be compatible with all new Lenovo phones with 5- to 6-inch display. The company kept telling that the Theater Max technology which comes premade on Vibe K4 Note along with Ant VR headset will allow the consumers to experience media content such as videos, movies, games, apps and other contents in a virtual VR headset and the Lenovo Vibe K4 note vibe combined with the new TheaterMax technology looked promising and changed any multimedia content into a virtual reality experience offering a 100.

Software: stock vibes

Secure Zone Management is a unique feature boasted by Lenovo's Vibe UI, and this is available under settings as well. The VR mode switch lets you access the K4 Note's VR mode, and enabling this displays a toggle for this feature in the list of options when you long press on the power key. We did try the feature using a Google Cardboard though, and it worked pretty well. Talking about the fingerprint scanner on the K4 Note, it works well most of the times, and unlocks the phone fairly quickly.

Lenovo Vibe K4 Note runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with the custom Vibe UI.

Performance

The K4 Note can only be used for casual low graphic games. The temperature of the device while playing games reached almost 47 degrees. One of the best aspects of the device is the audio output with dual front facing speakers. Lenovo has added a new feature named Theatre Max, which provides virtual reality experience on the device.

Battery Life

Lenovo Vibe K4 Note comes with 3300mAh battery and the company has increased the capacity from 3000 on the K3 Note. The Lenovo Vibe K4 Note has been priced at Rs 11,999, which is 2k higher than the K3 Note. With a good design, build, decent display, software and performance, the K4 Note is an all round device which will not disappoint you unless you are into heavy gaming.

Camera

The rear camera of the phone is a 13Mp shooter with integrated ISOCELL technology. The front of the phone includes a 5MP Shooter with autofocus. The VR headset aims to integrate Virtual reality into the phones for surreal gaming and Video play.

Switching to the front camera offers more options up front, so you get buttons for fill light, snap mode and toggling a mirror option on top. Snap mode gives you a few options to shoot selfies, offering a timer and shooting options like tap-to-shoot and hand signs. A slider that controls beauty mode intensity is present as well. Lenovo Vibe K4 Note comes with 13MP rear camera with PDAF and dual tone LED flash and a 5MP front camera for selfies. The camera performance of Vibe K4 Note is a mixed bag.

Storage

The fact that the K4 Note sports a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion also bodes well for it, since most other dual-SIM phones these days come with hybrid slots, requiring you to choose between dual-SIM functionality and storage expansion. The Lenovo K4 Note sticks to the brand's philosophy by offering a compelling package for its asking price - ticking most boxes when it comes the parameters one considers while buying a new smartphone.
