The launch of the Galaxy S III shows Samsung's maturity in the smartphone space. The Samsung Galaxy S III is the best Samsung smartphone to date.

The Samsung Galaxy S III is a multi-touch , slate -format smartphone designed, developed, and marketed by Samsung Electronics that runs the Android operating system It has additional software features, expanded hardware, and a redesigned physique from its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S II The S III employs an intelligent personal assistant ( S Voice ), eye-tracking ability, and increased storage. Sharing features makes life simpler through NFC, WiFi Direct, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, DLNA
Sharing features requires other users to also buy into the Samsung ecosystem with either a Galaxy S III or Galaxy Tab 2 model.

Industrial design (very good)

The Samsung Galaxy S3 features a slightly slimmer, a rounder body and a sleeker design than its predecessor: the Galaxy S2. The lines are pure. Samsung pitches the SII design as inspired by nature”, and more specifically, pebbles. The curvaceous lines alongside the smooth surface are certainly reminiscent of the small rounded stones.

Performance

In its original form, the Samsung Galaxy S3 was equipped with Samsung's own Exynos quad-core processor. Antutu is an overall system performance benchmark (CPU, graphics, storage), and what it shows is that overall, most recent phones land in a comparable performance footprint. As you can see, the Galaxy S3 is among the top contenders, and the Tegra chip wins here because Antutu has a good test for multi-core performance. To be fair, the Snapdragon S4 does outperform Tegra 3 in floating-point benchmarks Floating point computations tend to be important for scientific calculations, game simulations and things of that nature. Interesting architectural differences.

Nenamark 2 is a test which tries to measure the graphics processor performance. SunSpider is a Javascript test that mostly measures how good the Javascript engine is. Perceived performance: Synthetic benchmarks can only carry us so far. The perceived performance of the Galaxy S3 is excellent.

Hardware

In designing the Galaxy S III, Samsung has been successful at bringing organic life to an inorganic subject such as phones. On the front of the device, users will be greeted with a massive 4.8-inch display, which sits just in the middle of the 4.65-inch screen on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the 5.3-inch screen on the Galaxy Note on AT&T in the U.S. Flanking the center home button are two capacitive touch buttons.

Display

Samsung says that despite having the same HD Super AMOLED moniker as the Galaxy Note and the Galaxy Nexus, the screen technology on the Galaxy S III has been refined and tweaked to give it overall a better performance. In testing the phone, I'd say that Samsung's claims are accurate.

As usual with Samsung, the Super-AMOLED display is great, its quality is comparable to other high-end smartphones such as the HTC One X. AMOLED technology delivers more saturated colors, which Eliane likes better since her designer tastes lean toward vivid colors over an accurate transcription of reality.

Android Software & TouchWiz UI

Navigating Android with Buttons. As Samsung didn't implement a multitasking button from ICS that's found on the Galaxy Nexus, the home button can also serve as a multasking button as well.

Working Smarter

S Voice. Samsung is truly leveraging many of the hardware features on the Galaxy S III with software to make the phone smarter. For instance, with the front-facing camera, Samsung created a feature called Smart Stay.

Sharing Features

With the Galaxy S III, Samsung is expanding the concept further and enabling easy ways to share and collaborate between devices, though many of the sharing features require users to be on the same wireless network for WiFi Direct to work. As All Share mostly only works with Samsung products, Samsung is hoping that you'll evangelize the device to family, friends, and coworkers once you get your own phone to fully leverage the sharing features, such as Share Shot, All Share Play, and Group Cast.

Like the Galaxy Nexus, the Galaxy S III also has Android Beam, which allows two NFC-equipped Android smartphones to share content with each other by tapping the devices together back-to-back. All Share and Group Cast. The catch with sharing and collaborating is that you'll need to have multiple Galaxy S III phones or Samsung's newer Galaxy Tab 2 tablets to have the cooler features work. Share Shot. For consumers, the most useful sharing feature will be Share Shot on the camera. Buddy Share. Another consumer-centric feature is Buddy Share, which will allow you to share and tag photos of friends taken with your Galaxy S III camera.

Camera & Multimedia

Camera and UI. The camera is placed closer to the top edge of the phone on the Samsung Galaxy S III as when compared to the HTC EVO 4G LTE. Left, Samsung Galaxy S III; Right, HTC EVO 4G LTE, Phone Call Quality/Network Speeds.

Battery Life

The Samsung Galaxy S III is a device that shows a lot of potential for what Samsung is capable of in the future. With an overnight (8hrs) 13% drop in battery life (T-Mobile GS3), the battery life under the best conditions isn't what we expected. Finally, keep in mind that network transactions generated by apps can appear as Android” as it is ultimately the OS that handles those transactions.

Specific features

NFC is an ultra-short range wireless communications protocol that enables devices to exchange short bursts of data. Samsung has modified the NFC feature of Android to support transfers as big as 1GB.

GroupCast via WiFi-Direct: GroupCast is typically used to share documents with other phones via WiFi-direct (same router). To do that, you will need to create a Samsung account so that Samsung servers can initiate the connection between your devices over the Internet.

Samsung Voice commands - S Voice Application (Could be better)

We have tested the S Voice application listed as one of the key features on the Samsung Galaxy S3 official website. However Google Voice Commands understood perfectly sentences such as Find restaurants” or 422 Townsend street”. For the latter, S Voice understood 422 Canton Street” perfectly though.
